Asus coming out with $200 Android or Chrome laptop

Asus is coming out with a new, almost full-sized laptop that will run something like Android or Chrome as its operating system. Some suppliers tipped Digitimes with these news. More info after the jump break.

The laptop is currently said to be in the price range of $200-$250. That's a lot less than most mainstream tablets out there. The machine will be running a lightweight OS like Android or Chrome, which don't even have heavy hardware requirements like Windows 7 does.

So there's one reason for the laptop to be so cheap: It will be low powered. The second huge reason is that both of these rumored operating systems are absolutely free.

This $200 laptop could be an awesome travel or school laptop, while not making you feel like you just threw away a lot of money you could have spent on other stuff.
