Winner of $10,000 iTunes card hung up on Apple (thinking it was a prank!)

Apple said that they completed the 10 billion apps downloaded milestone for the iTunes Store. But who was the winner? Who won the $10,000 iTunes Gift Card? It was Gail Davis, who thought that the call from Apple was a prank and hung up. And she nearly lost the too-huge gift card for iTunes.

Cult of Mac reports that Gail Davis' teen daughter downloaded the app 'Paper Glider', which was the lucky one. It completed the 10 billion apps downloaded from iTunes milestone.

When Gail, of Orpington, Kent, UK, got a phone call from Apple, she thought it was a prank. She said, "‘Thank you very much, I’m not interested’ and I hung up." Later, her two daughters came down and said that it was not a prank, and it was a huge mistake that she had made.
“The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call,” she says. “The girls were getting quite tense. They never would have forgiven me. They would have held it against me for all eternity.”
But after a couple of hours (and after trying to call Apple, reaching only the helpdesk), an Apple executive (Eddy Cue, VP of iTunes) called back and she was "hugely relieved".

And the luckiest iTunes user had to go through this, making news!

Now Gail Davis' family has to never pay for a single app, song or movie, at least for the next few years.
