Beginner Tip: Find your DirectX version

For non-geeks, it may be, at times hard to quickly check what version of DirectX you are using. Here's how to do it.
Windows XP:
  • Click Start.
  • Click Run...
  • Type in 'dxdiag' without the quotes and press Enter.
The DirectX version should be there in the System tab (first one).

Windows Vista or later:
  • Click Start.
  • Start typing 'dxdiag' directly and press Enter.
You'll see the version in the System tab. It's the last line.

At the time of writing this, DirectX 11 is the latest version. DX 10 and DX 11 are exclusively available for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
